Keeping it real with the New Years Resolutions
10th January 2017
Happy New Year to you!
As well as being a time for reflection New Year is also notably a time for new beginnings, setting intentions and focusing on new goals.

I’m not one for setting New Year Resolutions as such, but I am up for goal setting. I think it’s an important part of getting to where you want to in life, whether it involves family, relationships, career changes, lifestyle changes, home-making decisions … the list goes on. I think it’s important to remind ourselves how well we are doing and how far we have come. So many of us (me included) focus on what we don’t have, rather than what we do have and therefore forget to take a few minutes to really appreciate and be grateful for what we have.

One of the biggest tips I have when setting new goals is be realistic about them. If you don’t give yourself enough time, it is more than likely that you won’t reach your goal, which in turn is going to leave you feeling deflated. It’s also important to set clear intentions before you start making the journey so that we can attract exactly what we want into our lives. If we aren’t clear we end up sending out mixed messages and what we end up attracting can sometimes be a bit back to front. How many times has that happened to you? I know it’s happened to me when I haven’t been clear with my intentions.
As we head towards the end of January, a large percentage of people will have given up on their goals (New Year Resolutions). They will give you countless reasons as to why but as harsh as it sounds, they haven’t achieved their goals simply because they weren’t committed enough! It’s an example of how you should accept the highs AND the lows in life. If there are one too many lows, a lot of people won’t be able to cope and will give up because they think that life would be easier if this ‘problem’ was removed from their life.

If you are planning on setting goals and want to follow through and attract and manifest the right things in your life then keep the list short, choosing one or two goals rather than a huge list. The more you have, the more you are unlikely to stick to!! And if you are wanting a quick fix to reach your goals, then expect to be back to where you started in no time.
As exciting as it is to look forward to achieving goals we have set ourselves, please remember to think about what is happening in life right now! It’s important to be present in the ‘now’ and to remind yourself that everything in your life is happening as it should be and you are where you are meant to be. Harder said than done, I know, but if you can just remind yourself about this every time you get caught up ‘over thinking’ the future it will hopefully bring you back to where you are meant to be.

Small continuous steps are better than big uncoordinated/random steps and remember to be grateful for everything happening which is getting you where you want to be.

Positive thinking is a tool used to make us feel more grateful about what we have but it’s very easy for us to forget that it’s only natural to receive positives and negatives (high and low) moments throughout our journey! Not only is this all part of quantum physics (yes, really!!) but without the lows we can’t be truly grateful and LOVE and appreciate the highs.
Happy New Year! I hope that the coming year holds all the things that you are aspiring for yourself.
