I make and drink this tea when I feel like I am coming down with a cold to help strengthen my immunity as well as to aid detoxing. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory so is soothing on the system particularly if you have a viral or bacterial infection. Unless you are using an infuser, you will need to use a strainer when you pour the tea.
What you need
Fresh root ginger
finely grated to yield 1 tbsp
½ tsp ground turmeric
Very small pinch chilli flakes
700ml boiling water
1-2 tbsp lemon juice
What you do
Fill a kettle and allow to boil.
Place the grated ginger, turmeric and chilli flakes into a teapot.
Once the kettle has boiled, leave it for five minutes before pouring the boiled water over the spices.
Once the flavours have infused, pour the tea and add the lemon juice according to taste.
If you prefer a sweeter flavor, you can add a squeeze of runny honey or maple syrup.
